Does anyone know where the fusible links are located in the Rangers glow plug wiring harness?

When I find my wiring manual I will scan the pages and post it.

There is 2 fusible links down by the number 1 glow plug relay mounted on the starter. The one comes off the starter solenoid and the other off the relay itself I believe. There might be another one up by the number 2 glow plug relay as well but I'm not sure and not at my truck to look at it. The fusible links are easy to see as it will look like a square tab sticking up off the wire saying what size fusible link it is.

According to the diagram the fusible links feed everything except the glow plug circuit. It shows 2 at the starter solenoid with 2 optional for trailer towing circuit and if you have an ammeter in the gauge cluster 2 more after the ammeter shunt, but none feeding the glow plug circuit. www.4shared.com/office/TK8mfDofba/charge.html

I don't have means to copy it but my factory service manual shows three fusible links in the wiring schematic for the glow plugs circuity.

I appreciate all the help guys but i'm confused, there's a bunch of different answers here lol, is there 0,1,2 or 3 fusible links?

It seems that several of us have manuals with conflicting information and they are all official ford printings. According to montana's scan one would be attached to the battery cable post on the starter and another is attached to the pre-glow relay. My schematic doesn't show one at all for the glow plugs. There are several fusible links in the system but they are for different systems. As wayne83 says they should have a plastic tab attached but if they have been replaced they might not have the tab on them.

These schematics seem to differ slightly from one publication to another. I mispoke in my previous comment, the schematic I linked to only shows two fusible links, not three, and one of those comes off the starter, only one is shown for the glow plug wiring. As the others have stated just trace your wiring the fusible links are easy to spot. What issues are you having to suspect a fusible link has failed?

My truck started being more difficult to start in cold temps, I had to cycle the glow plugs 2-3 time before it would start. I checked out the resistance of the glow plugs and all were under 1 ohm. Next I checked voltage at each glow plug and they were only getting 4-5 volts for about 3 seconds before dropping to zero. Aren't the glow plugs supposed to get full battery voltage (12v) for 6 seconds then drop down to 4-5 volts?

Sounds like the timer (control module) if the fusible link blew out you wouldn't see any voltage at all.

Yes they are. The problem could be in the glow plug controller or the under hood relays. There are 2 small relays in the controller that turn the under hood relays on and very carefully opening these relays and cleaning the contacts will often bring the system back to life the way it is supposed to work. I have thought about wiring a plug from where these relays attach to the board to put in outside replaceable relays for easier repair in the future.

I can hear a loud click coming from the relay on the firewall then 6 seconds after that I hear a lighter click coming from the relay behind the kick panel. I'll clean those contacts you talked about and see if that does anything...
