Well it seems Jeep has a 4 cyl Italian diesel for 2005 that guzzles #2 fuel oil as fast as the oil company will permit. 24/27 mgp.... Prices start at $23,000 and top out at $33,000 fully loaded (such a deal). It is however fast but with a duel over head cams it probably has a rubber timing belt that will need to be changed. www.mpt.org/motorweek/reviews/rt2415.shtml Too bad they don't sell one that get better milage than a gas 3.0L Ford Taurus. Maybe if this engine was in a Chevy S10 - 2WD and sold for around $16,000.

Update:
Jeep is only going to build 5,000 with the Italian 4 cylinder 2.8 liter diesel engines. My local dealer said this will push the price even higher as demand out strips supply.
