anyone have a tach in their trucks i was wondering if a standard 12volt tach could be wired up some how to the altenator wire harness on the back. i remember hooking one up for a 305 gm engine, it was as simple as hooking one wire to the distributor and the guage was just fed 12volts. but obviously a diesel has no such thing. so the next thing is to look at the alt. im sure these things must of had a tach as a factory option?? *i hope*

It's just a pick up coil that gets stuck on the stator frame of the alternator some how. J.C. Whitney sold some rig for diesels. Must have to calibrate it for different trucks. Easer to put shift marks on the speedo. Davo (BSEE, PHD Junkyard)

The Mazda diesels came 2 ways. Stripped down or with the Sundowner package which had velour seat, better carpet, wood grain dash, color matched shift boot cover, tinted glass, clock, radio, full wheel covers, bumper over riders, chrome trim around the grille, better looking steering wheel, full wheel covers, carpet on the lower door panels, larger grab handles, load bars between the wheel pockets instead of cleats on the outside of the bed. The only option these trucks had from Mazda was a radio for the stripped ones and A/C for both and thats it.No power steering, automatic, etc. If you wanted that stuff you went gas.John.
