On this post: north76.proboards11.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1080449412I noted that the $300 starting bid was too high because after putting $200 in a new windshield, you'd have a $400 truck that needed tires and a tailgate. However, I guess I was wrong because 44toy was willing to pay $600 (even though he only paid $400). Also, Dieseldavo had this to say: Man Did that go for cheap money! Someone could sell that for $2000 in Mexico (where fuel oil is $0.30/gal). Did they put air bags in some states? The wheel looks strange............ Isn't $2000 a lot of money in rural Mexico? Couldn't they buy a new little Brazilian VW for that much? Also, 30¢/gal sounds cheap, but relative to income isn't it the same as ours? Mexicans prefer diesel because their gasoline doesn't have any appreciable quality, right? NOVA=doesn't go I'd sell mine for $2000 in a heartbeat and it has a good tailgate, new tires, a good windshield, and no homemade anything. I have about $400 invested. I have heard that all the old diesel cars are being bought up and sent to Mejico. That's from the guy from my old town (upstate SC) that fixes BMW's and VW's and goes to lots of auctions. He says anything diesel is hard to find since the influx of Mexicans there. (By influx, I mean now every Wal-mart and Parts America now has Mexican check-out line for the no-english speakers.) Are these trucks really worth more than I think? I don't think Salvy is paying much for his either.

when you mention home made, i dont really have anything that would be considered realy as home made. (chuckle)
since the cross filter i have as a bypass filter is so common, where ever theres a farm that has a tractor, some local parts store will stock this bypass filter lol... and the fuel tank on mine, maybe a problem some what, cause it takes up some of the bed of the box, but it'll hold 100+ liters of fuel. maybe an added bonus.
well... is it time to head down to ol' mexico loaf around in the sun and fly back ? lol

I agree that fuel prices south of the border are cheap to us and any other outsiders. But if we were grossing $5000/year in salary like they probably do, we wouldn't think so. Our fuel may cost 5× as much, but for the respective jobs, we get paid at least 5 time as much. Also, the homemade comment was regarding the homemade glow plug controller that was on the truck that 44toy bought off ebay. Who wants to pay me $1500 for my truck?
