Am looking at re-camming my newly acquired '83 2.2 and of course can't find parts anywhere. Would like to pull it and do a ring and bearing job too, but finding those parts has proven to be equally as impossible.
Anyone have any luck with re-ground cams in these?
Any luck with adjusting the pump (it appears to be a Bosch pump, similar to the VW pumps and adjustments appear the same)?
Since I do custom injector work for Mercedes IDI injectors (custom nozzles, balancing, etc.), I thought I'd pull the injectors and see what can be done with them. At least I can re-balance them as a set if nothing else.

Old Cam OK? I have an 84 that lost a piston to a valve head. For A rebuild kit Check Perkins dealers. You have a Perkins 4-135. I've been checking with them and only had luck if they do the rebuild. Perkins Power kit comes with new Sleeves, pistons, berrings, valves, guides, gaskets ect. I put a new set of nozzels in my old texas 83 and it did help some but I think I have a sticky delivery valve too. Engine is so loose it gains speed if you let off going down hill. Texas has lapping compound on the air. These engines need a turbo with a mild boost. At 6000 feet of altitude they need more air. Power drops to about 38 hp! community.webshots.com/user/dieseldavo

You Can! Call any Perkins Dealer and ask them. Most of there boxes of parts have Mazda printed on them. Perkins of England gave Toyo Kogyo the casting forms ect. and said if you build this we will buy if. The 4.135 (4 cylinder 135 cubic inch) is part of Perkins 200 series. They didn't want to be manufacture it in England anymore just as most Harley Davidson, GM ect is from some slave labour country with no unions or workers rights!

I can get a rebuild kit for it now asking for a Perkins 4-135 and I have new injector nozzles for it in stock and didn't even know it. Now the only question I have (which isn't in any manual I have) is what's the spec for pop pressure so I can balance them?
