I found some smaller superchargers for 2 - 2.5 Liter engines on ebay for less than a turbo for the same sized engine. the control of air pressure going into a engine is easier to control with a turbo, so that may be a good reason to install one, plus you won't be robbing hp from your engine to drive a turbo..

i'm pretty sure a turbo is more efficient since its using a waste product to produce boost as opposed to a direct draw from a super charger which takes increasingly more energy to spin the more you rev, which is why most supercharged stuff seem to have lower fuel economy than their turbo counterparts too

Amr-500 done it on vw bug way cheaper than you think. It a small roots style blower. I have mine set at 12 psi but also have a 20psi pulley that was to aggressive for street use.
