Hey guys, had the old diesel sitting for a couple weeks (waiting on a clutch hose.. redid the master and slave) but when I took her out this morning what a clanking sound, thought it was under the head cover but wasn’t, then thought it was my water pump gone, since it has a leak, but turns out it was the engine fan bearing... So, do I need a new bearing or a whole new fan? Haven’t had the time to pull her out yet. Thanks

And where would I find one/ what would I look for? Rock auto, my go to, doesn’t have one listed. Thanks

All my research gave me a wrong part number. Already ordered it and wasn’t even close. I can’t find a part number on this old puppy

I converted it to an electric fan several years ago without issue, if you can't find a clutch there is always that route

How do the electric fans mount up? Do they attach to the radiator, because my front end is a Frankenstein job. I’ll see what I can find

Got it, watched a YouTube video. Looks like that should be a fairly easy fix, and will add to all the other “helpers” I’ve added over the years. Thanks

Works great so far, should I have air blowing towards engine or sucking away from??? That’s for the suggestion!!

Should pull in from the front and blow onto the motor but set up looks good. Less stress on the water pump too.

About what temp do you run at? I notice I’ve got a higher avg. temp with the electric. Hittin around 208 or so which is a bit up from before...maybe I outta reinstall my fan guard for air flow

Well, now that I take it for a test drive, my temp gauge is showing high....Am I too hot? If not when do I become concerned?

Ok, that was sitting idle, after taking it for a good rip, temp dropped right down. I think I am finally done!

mine sits a 180 which I think is the factory thermostat setting. If the outside temp is below 60 my fan doesn't usually even come on. If you do still get above 190 at idle you might wanna adjust the temp where your fan comes on.
