Hello everyone, So my problem this week is the sedimentor apparently the person that had it before me NEVER cleaned it. It wouldn't open so i took it off the frame and unscrewed the top portion to find it had two inches of sludge in the bottom. I unscrewed the cable that attaches to the bowl and soaked it in Deep Creep, PB blaster and now Mystery oil and it still won't come out. Does anyone have any ideas on how to free the Valve? Also if I can't get it free does anyone have a extra lower portion with a working valve for sale. I know I can buy a water separator but I would rather keep it as factory as possible. This is for a 83 Ranger by the way. Thanks for all of your help.

I had the same issue, I did a rebuild and I can give you a tutorial on the rebuild
1. You already removed and found what I did, lots of nuts 2. Clean the gunk out best you can. I cleaned, scraped, etc and then put in lacquer thinner to soak 3. The nylon screw in the bottom will not come free, and if you heat it you risk damage to the bowl
I have a friend with machine tools. He used a mill to cut the plug flush with bowl. You don't need to be that precise, but don't mutilate it, try for a nice flush cut. Then the bowl goes to a drill press. You drill out at a size just below your thread diameter.
The threads on this I salvaged. once the drill out was done, a little bit of heat, at that point was ok, and a dental pick, then chased the threads with a tap. This is a Japanese specific thread pitch. I found a bolt to use as replacement. I used a cap head CHROME bolt, not stainless that came from the specialty fastener bin at the hardware store. I put a solvent resistant O ring on the bolt to seal it.
Send me a note to daveandkathy3@comcast.net with Diesel in the title and I can get you some pics.

Had to look at my records. The thread pitch is M10x1.25

Drill bit was closest to 9mm, in SAE.

I just deleted the stock separator, installed a racor separator. it has a clear bowl to inspect for water. check it about once a month, have yet to drain anything out of it.

Did you put the racor separator in the same location as the original?

under the hood, easier to check and service. a bit more mess when cleaning. engine needs periodic cleaning anyway..
