I'm trying to find where the oil filters are on the truck but can't seem to find much online to help. I need to figure out how much oil the truck holds so I can change it. I just got the truck a week ago, it's an 82 with the 2.2L perkins diesel at 246k. All help and references is appreciated

there are two oil filters, a main and a bypass. Main is on the front drivers side corner of the engine and bypass is on the front passenger side. Bypass filters the oil for the alternators vac pump. The filters are available at any auto parts store (I use Oreillys) and they're usually in stock. Capacity is somewhere around 7 quarts so I usually just buy the 2.5 gallon delo400 jug then I have top up oil.

Welcome to the club, at only 246K that 2.2 Perkins has many miles left in it. As noted above oil capacity is 7qts. Use quality filters and dino oil e.g. Napa Gold/Wix - Rotella/Delo and change the oil/filters every 3K miles and you should have many miles of happy motoring!

Yes on Wix. Order several and a backup pair online. Avoid cheaper off the shelf Fram, STP etc. I had an STP leak right out of the box
