I usually just type "ford ranger diesel" into search and a bunch of parts for the rangers/mazdas 2.2 diesel comes up.

I can get you a diesel kiki number if you're still looking. They are a bosch ve style so something may be off an old VW. dunno.

The VW pumps rotate in the opposite direction. They wont work. In fact, most VE pumps won't work cause they rotate to the "Right", ours rotate to the "Left".
This is the number you'll use to order parts and look up replacements: NP-VE4/9F2125LNP105

Good luck with the rebuild rustyranger As it turns out part numbers are missing from my spare pump anyway My last truck had a pump rebuild in Montreal at 500k km for $500, though I don't know precisely the work done. My current pump had been spin tested on a bench for under one-hundred canadian bucks and was deemed good save for a stuck plunger. fatguppy thanks, I did not know about the differences in the bosch version on the VW. Interesting, I understand the Stanedyne on old idi chev's and ford 6.9/7.3s had the same difference - opposite direction of pump rotation - and for some reason, the 6.2 did poorly on VO where as the Ford managed o.k. No such difference in the diesel kiki/bosch it would seem these are both pretty robust. Anyway, I gather a certain number of parts will nonetheless be interchangeable, so like was said, a vw pump guy will be able to tell a lot. Unrelated, here is a ranger for sale in Manitoba, Canada: www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/winnipeg/1986-ford-ranger-diesel-w-greasecar-vegetable-oil-conversion/1158158078

So, I've found some videos of a similar pump rebuild, and operation videos. I plan on pulling off the slotted doors on the bottom of the pump to see if the internal advancing tube is locked up. does anyone have more info on these pumps?
