I got a complete gasket set, rings and rod bearings from Engine Parts Center in Tampa Florida and main bearings from Northern Auto Parts in Souix City Iowa. Northern has a website, www.naparts.com and an e-bay store which is how I found them.

I have a few gallons of 15/40 used motor oil and would like info on filtering out most of the carbon/smut before burning it as fuel in my ranger. Any suggestions? Is it worth it?

I have a few gallons of 15/40 used motor oil and would like info on filtering out most of the carbon/smut before burning it as fuel in my ranger. Any suggestions? Is it worth it? I've been burning used motor oil in mine for years, no problem. Instead of first filtering the oil, I changed/added a few things in my fuel system to handle the junk. First, I installed an oversized pickup tube in the tank(1/2" if I remember correctly). Next, I used a Holley fuel pump to push the more viscous fuel through a multiple, progressive, Caterpillar fuel filter setup that I mounted on the frame. The first filter is a fuel/water separator rated at 10micron and the secondary filter is 2micron(4micron absolute). I usually add anywhere from 3-6 gallons per tankful of fuel. The exhaust doesn't smell very good, but it's not smoky anyway. Saves me $20+ every time I fill up!

Is it possible to do a turbocharger on the 4.135 Perkins And if so how hard is it to get the parts to do the swap

you have 5 make your own manifold to turbo it. there is no aftermarket turbo kit, everything is a make your own system. I had one on mine for quite awhile but recently took it off to install air conditioning, but I will soon be making a new manifold and putting the turbo in a different location so I can still have ac. I Wil take pictures of it when I get it done, or while I'm doing it.

Anyone out there know where to obtain a new cylinder head for my 1983 b2200 2.2 diesel? Turns out rebuilding the cracked one I have is going to end up costing me $900-$1000. Any line on parts would be extremely helpful.

The guy down at my local machine shop working on my '83 b2200 2.2L head swears up and down that this engine is not a perkins. The only marking on the head was a casting number nothing on it says perkins. I'd like to solve this mystery as well, gang. zoinks!

They are designed by Perkins and licensed to Mazda. The best information I have seen says they were built by Mazda but some people say they were built by Mitsubishi for Mazda. They were primarily used in Mazda b2200 trucks and Ford Rangers from 82 to 84 but some were used in airport tugs and I have seen one myself in a generator set with a valve cover that had a KIA logo on it. I also ran across a website for marine engines around the great lakes with it listed as a Westerbeke marine conversion.

Try searching as gradyc says for Westerbeke genset parts. The "63BFour" and "63CFour" appears to have the 2.2l 4.135 for a powerplant judging from parts schematics I've been seeing that relates to the Westerbeke gensets I referenced.
