What a gem of a forum, heaps of great advice and none of the usual nonsense!
wish I’d found it sooner, took me a while to even ID the engine, then I had to find a set of push rods and on oil filter mount....
when end I bought the transit I was told that it has a ford courier engine, I now understand that to be the same as an S2 or Perkins engine, it also has a repositioned gear leaver hole in the floor so I’m assuming the matching gearbox too, I’m chasing replacement bushes to remove some of the play in the shifter, any ideas where I’d get them?
got a bit of time on the van yesterday, fitted a Subaru radiator ( the original transit one good for its home country of England but probably a bit small for Western Australia) and replaced the inter cooler hoses (yes, fitted with a turbo!) and after three months of not starting her she fired straight off so I went onto tidy the crazy wiring inside done by the previous owner.
went to start her today and she will not fire, cranks over, nice and quickly but not a hint of starting. I assume it was something I’d done with wiring so spent some time checking that, nothing obvious but I ran a wire from the diesel cut off on the pump to the battery just to be sure and other than ticking, nothing! I loosened the diesel in joint on the diesel pump and pushed the pump on top of the filter a few times and there is diesel there, so I loosened the pipe on the top of the injectors, turned the engine over but no diesel there..... so frustrating..... any ideas.?
thanks for reading all that.
