Mine, like probably many others, is leaking. I drips and drips making a mess. Not to mention I am wasting fuel.
So how hard is it to rebuild or replace the Seals in the IP and anyone know where to get a kit or recommend a good person to do the job for me?
Thanks in advance.

Anyone with basic mechanical skills can take off the top of the injector pump and replace the o-ring. It's a bit tricky, but I found adequate notes and descriptions in these pages. Dave has good pictures on his web page.

The pump might be leaking at he back between the layers also. An injection pump rebuilder told me to try putting some tranny oil in the fuel for a tank or two (maybe a qt per tank) and see if it swells the seals enough to keep from making such a mess.

Redline make an additive called 85 plus that will help swell seals and it did really slow the leaking head on my pump.
The ip head is held on by a special 3 sided bolt and screws. Also if your going through the work of ripping the pump off you may as well have the rollers changed and don't forget the front main seal.
Not really a job a the junk yard jockey...
Try the Redline 85 plus first for about 9 months unless it's just the throttle shaft or some other top cover issue.

OK, Sounds good. I am not sure where it is leaking from as everything on the Pump is wet looking. I will try the cheap fixes first before having to pull the pump. Is there a link to this Website of Daves?

You know, I just had another thought. If I were to get the IP rebuilt, could I have one of those Fuel Enrichment Compensator Diaphragms that are on other Turbo Diesel IP's that increase the fuel while the turbo is boosting installed at the same time for use for a later Turbo project? I just happen to have a Core IP from a Toyota Turbo Diesel (1CT-Camry)?? The two IP's look very similar. Thanks

before spending all the money for a injection pump or rebuild try the o-ring replacement fix. it has worked to fix the injection pump leaks, for most of us. the o-ring is available from industrial diesel repair shops. it had to be ordered from my local shop. something like .80, plus shipping. once i got to the pump i just scribed the throttle shaft to insure that i got it back on properly, and removed the four screws holding the top on. ( i left some steps out, please use DieselDavo's Mazda B2200 Page, Pump Land instructions). home.myfairpoint.net/madfax1/id2.htmlthe fuel enrichment diaphragm is used when traveling to high altitude, to compensate for the thin air. it actually de-fuels the engine to cut down smoke. cc

Hello all, wow am I screwed, my boyscouts have taken off the trottle without marking it or paying attention to how the springs go back. Now the truck runs but when you press the peddle it stalls, and I have noted that the pump leaks so I guess I need to rebuild as noted in this post. What will it take to get the pump going again is it timing or just a rotation issue? thanks

You have to take the throttle arm back off and rotate the shaft 180 degrees. Don't put the spring back on until you find the right place to make the engine idle about 500 rpm; when the arm is on the stop and it work properly. Now mark the shaft and arm so that it will be right when you put the return springs back on the arm.
Don't panic I have done the same thing. You didn't wreck anything.

Thats great news, I am still waiting on the manual for the directions on replacing the springs, One question the throttle arm appears to have teeth, but I don't see any on the shaft, are there some that have been broken off? I am hoping to find parts at a local parts yard, but have not yet gone out to see what they have out there.

the teeth are so the lever can grip the shaft. as long as the lever is installed in the right place and the split end of the lever is squeezed by the nut and bolt/screw, you should be o.k.

Thanks according to a diesel injection shop the IP is a Japanese copy of a bosch VE pump.So in theory you could grab the boost compensator off a bosch VE and install it.You could also try connecting a vaccum line from the turbo to the altitude compensator port on the IP that might enrich the fuel.
