Hi folks,
I'm guessing my water pump is on its way out, it looks like my truck is taking a piss once the engine gets up to temperature. I know I can send the pump out for rebuild, but had anyone tried to source a new one? I called a local Perkins dealer, who said they could help if I gave them the serial number off the block above the injection pump. I'm away from the truck right now, could someone share theirs so I can see if perkins still sells the pump? Thanks!

Is your truck a Mazda or a ranger? The pumps are different. The mazda pump seems to not be available but not too long ago I was able to order one for my ranger from NAPA. The NAPA part number is WP 58337. They had to call the factory to get it but it wasn't a problem at the time.

I don't think Perkins will be able to help because these engines are built by Mazda under license not by Perkins and is 134 C.I.D where the Perkins is 154 C.I.D. I have heard that Westerbeke used it for a marine application and I have seen 1 with a KIA valve cover on a gen set.

I used this method when the pump went out on my b2200 because I couldn't find one anywhere, I used O'riley auto parts and it took a month and a half but only cost 60$ from what I remember perkins doesn't offer any external parts for either the ranger or b2200.

Stopped by the ford dealership, not hopeful. Gave me part number though, E3TZ-8501-E. I cannot find and of these, but found the ac delco cross reference # of 252-153, which are available from numerous folks. Looks like the prices vary from $50 to $150, and most optimistically, the fitment info matches. Can anyone verify this is the correct pump for my 1984 ranger? Also, any thoughts why Mazda would have a different pump? Seems like a pain from the manufacturing standpoint, I thought on the vacuum pump/ alternator was different on the engines.

The Mazda pump is smaller than the ford and not nearly as heavy duty. The Mazda had a vacuum pump built onto the alternator and the ranger had a separate vacuum pump which is the same one used on the full sized ford trucks with the 6.9 and 7.3 engines.

I ordered one, but it sounds like it wont be any help to you Mazda dudes. Is the casting of the block for the coolant galleys the same? I wonder if a ranger w/p would fit a Mazda and visa versa. Thanks for the help folks.

Thanks for the help folks. I want to know this too! I wonder if the vac pump would swap over.. I would love to ditch my combo alternator for something that can actually generate power lol

They will both bolt up to the engine but the fan mounting height is different and the fan bolt pattern is different. The water pump pulleys won't interchange either. I changed all the pulleys and brackets to change the Mazda engine I found to work with the ford power steering and AC system but I kept the Mazda alternator and vacuum pump because I had trouble finding the ford vacuum pump mounting brackets. The Mazda crankshaft pulley is a double v grove pulley and the ford has a single v grove and a serpentine pulley in front of it.

Ac delco pump could not be less correct. My buddy who is a mechanic said that ac delco only makes Chevy parts. Odd that there website lists the pump for my truck.

your friend is wrong, ac delco makes all sorts of parts. one example is oil filters. you can find a ac delco filter for 90% of all vehicles made... ignition and electrical system parts for most brands. heck we bought ac delco oil filters for our diesel generators on navy ships..
